What are Siren/Hooter?

A Siren or Hooter is a device, either mechanical or electronic, that makes a piercingly loud sound as an alarm or signal, or the sound from such a device.  A siren is a loud noise-making device.

How does a Siren/Hooter work?

The simplest version of a siren is a mechanical device that pushes an air stream against a rotating perforated disk. As the disk spins, the airflow will be alternately interrupted and allowed to pass. The ensuing fluctuation in air pressure produces a series of regular pressure waves that we perceive as sound.

Electronic sirens incorporate circuits such as oscillators, modulators, and amplifiers to synthesize a selected siren tone (wail, yelp, pierce/priority/phaser, hi-lo, scan, air-horn, manual, and a few more) which is played through external speakers.

Piezo sirens or buzzers are simple devices that can generate basic beeps and tones. They work by using a piezo crystal, a special material that changes shape when voltage is applied to it. If the crystal pushes against a diaphragm, like a tiny speaker cone, it can generate a pressure wave which the human ear picks up as sound.

Flasher Siren are sirens offered with a strobe that is a device to produce consistent flashes of light that help in tracking the security threat more easily.
